Reporting Ninja

Reporting Ninja was one of the first data source platforms we used while starting, we were using Datastudio(now Looker studio) a lot for reports as it was free, offered an online view via a link, and was easy to duplicate templates and swap out data for new clients. I wanted to expand our data from the included Google ones, and this had a good amount of data sources, integrated with Datastudio and also had their own portal feature which was neat.

The Pricing for the datastudio integrations is reasonable since you get Xamount of accounts for each platform. So we were able to expand to include more overview reports for clients where we pulled in analytics, search console, and their various social platforms.

I was interested in utilizing their custom portal as it was able to use our domain, but as I dug into a few things it just wasn’t going to work for us, the main reason being and still is, not many of our clients read our reports anyway (still a bit surprising) Aside from the low traffic it would get, the reports builder was decent, it could use a bit of refinement with the widgets and customization options, the other issue was the naviagation for multiple reports or long reports was OK. I couldn’t find a great way to present a lot of data and have the clients be able to easily understand and navigate. The last part of our reasoning was the price, the datastudio pricing is great, though utilizing their dashboard we would of had to pay per client, and per report, so having multiple reports per client or providing access to multiple people as we need to with some just racked up the price tag very quickly.

It doesn’t seem like the pricing model has been changed or adjustet much since we last used them, but for datasources to datastudio (looker studio) and now Google sheets, the pricing is reasonable and the update speed is quick. You’re looking at about $0.80 – $2 per account which isn’t bad expansion rates. We only switched away around 2020 due to a large drop in clients and I was paying for our own data so was more a cost savings move. If our current one (Two Minute Reports) doesn’t improve their data load times, as this has been on their in progress roadmap for over a year now, we’ll probably switch back.
